Plaintiffs File Motion to Compel

In a recent development, plaintiffs’ attorneys have submitted a motion urging the court to reconsider a prior order that denied their request to compel the production of specific digitized muster rolls pertaining to the Marine Corps and the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Camp Lejeune project.

The defendant initially opposed the motion, citing its commitment to producing the digitized muster rolls by the end of March 2024. However, the plaintiffs’ legal team has presented new evidence indicating the existence of a Marine Corps Unit Diary Database (MUDD) spanning from 1940 to 2005. This database appears to align with the plaintiffs’ original requests, offering search functionalities by year, description, and full text, particularly focusing on the pertinent period from 1950 to 1990, crucial to the ongoing litigation.

The challenge faced by the victims is obtaining their service records from the defendant party in this litigation. Consequently, plaintiffs are seeking the court’s intervention to compel the government to disclose the pertinent records, essential for substantiating their presence at Camp Lejeune.
