Roblox MDL 3166 Settlement Master: Why Families Still Do Not Have a Claim Form
Roblox MDL 3166 has a settlement master. That is not a claim form.
Last reviewed: October 10, 2026
I do not like the way this one is already getting blurred online.
Parents see "settlement master" and think, reasonably, that some Roblox claim form may be open. It is not. I checked the GovInfo case page for MDL 3166. What it shows is a court-management step in the federal Roblox child sexual exploitation litigation, not a settlement fund and not a deadline to submit a form.
In June 2026, Chief Judge Richard Seeborg appointed Thomas J. Perrelli as settlement master. That matters. It means the court has someone available to help with settlement talks if the parties get there. But it does not mean Roblox has settled with families. It does not mean the court has approved payouts. It does not mean a parent can join the case by typing a name into a website.
That is the point of this update.
Our main page for the litigation is the Roblox lawsuit and MDL 3166 overview.
What the order means, and what it does not
It still does not decide liability. It does not answer what Roblox knew. It does not decide whether safety tools were adequate. It does not decide a family's damages. It does not erase defenses the companies may raise.
MDLs are not simple. The cases remain individual cases.
A class action can end with a notice and a claim form. An MDL usually starts in a different place. For MDL 3166, the review is fact by fact. Those details are the case.
So if someone is advertising a quick Roblox "settlement claim" as if this were a simple online refund, slow down. There may be firms reviewing claims. That is different from a court-approved settlement program.

State cases are their own thing
State and local governments are also pressing Roblox over child safety. Those actions may help explain the bigger picture. They may also create public records that lawyers in private cases care about.
But a state settlement is not automatically a family settlement. Government money may go to a state program. Injunctive terms may require platform changes. None of that, by itself, pays an individual child or proves an individual case.
That difference gets missed all the time. A parent sees the word "settlement" in a state news story and wonders if the family's chance is gone. Usually, that is the wrong takeaway.
We covered that records angle in what state Roblox investigations mean for family records.
The boring records matter most
A parent may want the app gone immediately. I understand the instinct. But wiping the account can make proof harder.
Save what can be saved safely: account names, screenshots, safety reports, emails, dates, device information, and usernames used on other apps. Keep it private. Do not post details publicly. These cases involve minors, trauma, private messages, and sometimes criminal investigations.
If there is immediate danger, call law enforcement first. If there may be child sexual abuse material or exploitation, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is also an appropriate reporting resource. Civil case review can wait until the child is safe.
